September 11, 2009

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Remember, there is no school Monday!

6th Language Arts: We studied the overused word "good" and learned to increase our vocabulary by using more exact synonyms for "good." We also took a spelling test. There is no homework.
*Sixth graders, remember to show your parents your mail and bring your empty folder back to school next week!

7th Language Arts: Today we began research for the 3rd group of notecards, the "after" cards. Some students are still trying to get their outlines caught up for the "before" and "during" cards. At this point those students have late grades and need to work hard to get caught up this weekend.

8th Language Arts: Today we began research for the 3rd group of notecards, the "after" cards. Some students are still trying to get their outlines caught up for the "before" and "during" cards. At this point, those students have late grades and need to work hard to get caught up this weekend.

6th Social Studies: We worked more on our notecards and checklists today. The second group of notecards, the "during" cards is due on Tuesday along with the completed checklist. Many students are still working on the "before" cards and checklist. These students have late grades now. I hope everyone works hard this weekend to get their notecards and checklists finished and has them ready to turn in on Tuesday.

6th Art: We finished our leaf prints today and will be starting a new project next week.

7th Art: The students finished drawing portraits and will be starting something new next week.

8th Art: It is time to begin our annual tradition of making pinatas. Today the students came up with their idea, starting tearing the newspaper, and a couple even began the paper mache process.
